The City of Springfield and LTD are requesting additional funds to program in the Central Lane MPO’s Federal Fiscal Year 15-18 MTIP. The City and LTD wish to add $95,000 of MPO Surface Transportation Program-Urban (STP-U) funds to the planning phase of Key number 19776 Main McVay Locally Preferred Transit Solution. The Main McVay Locally Preferred Transit Solution project was previously supported by the MPO with the programming of $70,000 of MPO STP-U funds in 2016.
This application (Attachment 1) for funding focuses on business outreach along the corridor and will include mailings, door to door outreach, and meetings with elected officials and select business or property owners. Staff will also conduct two Design Solutions Workshops to identify potential solutions for avoiding or minimizing impacts for a locally preferred transit solution.
The MPO’s Transportation Planning Committee (TPC) has discussed the funding application and is recommending consideration of the programming of this funding due to the regional significance of the project. The additional outreach to community members and business owners along the corridor is an important piece of selecting appropriate design solutions for this regional transit project.
Staff will be present at the August 4th MPC meeting to provide further information on the Main McVay project and answer questions. A public comment period will be open on the funding proposal from July 29 through August 28. MPC will be asked to consider programming the funds at the September 1st MPC meeting.
