The Central Lane Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is considering a draft amendment to the Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program (MTIP) to program approximately $50 million in the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) 5309 Small Starts funds and $682,000 of Oregon State lottery funds for the West Eugene EmX Extension project. Funds are being programmed for land purchase, construction, vehicle purchase, and other project costs. The MTIP is the federally-required short range transportation plan developed by the MPO. It lists important regional projects that are either funded or reasonably expect funding within the next 4 years. It tells how to spend state and federal funds for building transportation projects on the ground and for ongoing operating needs. Comments received before the public comment period ends on March 29, 2015, will be sent to decision makers to consider as part of the approval process.
